IIIT Kalyani is an Institute of National Importance set up by the Government of India, the Government of West Bengal and industry partners in public-private partnership mode.
The institute was created on a not-for-profit PPP basis, funded 50:35:15 by the Ministry of Education, the Government of West Bengal and industry partners WEBEL, Coal India and Rolta Foundation. It received Institute of National Importance status in March 2017. It currently runs from a temporary campus at the Webel IT Park in Kalyani while its 34 acre permanent campus is built. B.Tech seats are filled through JEE Main and JoSAA counselling.
