About IIT (BHU)
IIT (BHU) Varanasi is an Indian Institute of Technology on the Banaras Hindu University campus, whose engineering education dates back to 1919.
Engineering teaching at BHU began in 1919 with the Banaras Engineering College. In 1968 three BHU engineering colleges merged to form the Institute of Technology (IT-BHU). It became IIT (BHU) Varanasi on 29 June 2012 by an Act of Parliament.
